melt-myy-heart-to-stonee asked: When are you guys going to do another tutorial? You girls are beautiful! :)

Hey Lady!

We’ve had a SUPER busy summer and fall. Unfortunately, High Brow took a backseat—we’re super here and in business now though! Stay tuned for the next few days. We’ve got new videos, tips, and tricks!

abakersdoesnt asked: i'm in some serious need of brow help: i was born with naturally thick and longer eyebrows. (I think) i do a pretty ok job with maintenance, but i always feel like i could a little bit better. any tips on how to shape, trim and fill thicker brows?

Eyebrows! Our favorite. We have a whole video dedicated to eyebrows coming your way soon!

Until then, remember that getting those elusive perfect brows takes patience. Here are a few suggestions to get you going:

-If you prefer at home maintenance, go to your nearest Sephora and invest in Anastasia’s Brow Stencils. Instead of wasting time trying to find your “golden ratio of brow”, these stencils do all the leg work for you.

Find the stencil that most closely mimics your current brow shape and place it on your face. Color in the stencil with a brow or eyeliner pencil, remove, and only pluck the hairs that you didn’t color in. Make sure you’re working with good tweezers. Go buy some Tweezerman’s if you haven’t already.

As for trimming, brush your brows up with a spooley. Trim any hairs that come up above your normal brow line. Be conservative. Don’t over do it.

-If you’re into having someone else help you with your brows, do your research. Don’t just walk into any nail place and let someone have free reign on your precious brows. Google “Best Eyebrows in ________”. Or figure out which of your friends/coworkers/et cetera has the best eyebrows and ask her where she gets hers done. If she says she does them herself, ask her to help you out with yours. If all your friends have shitty eyebrows, find new friends.

-As for filling in, we’re dramatic over here and most people think we look like ladies of the night. But the best advice we can give: Follow your natural shape. Play around to find your perfect arch. If you have to wipe it off once or twice, that’s fine. It’s just make up.

We love, love, love Revlon Brow Fantasy and think every girl should have one in her make up bag.

Stay tuned for our brow video with more brow tips and tricks!

Anonymous asked: I currently use Mac's False Lash mascara. It works pretty well, I guess I cant complain. But, it doesn't really wow me. Do you have any suggestions as to what mascara's are worth the money? I tend to be a fan of really bold and thick lashes. Any suggestions would be nice.

Hi Mama! Thanks for the question.

First, put down the MAC mascara. Slowly. Right there on the ground. Take three steps back. Ok, good. Now RUN AWAY and never look back.

We feel better already.

MAC Mascara is not a favorite here. We find their products dry out really quickly and are not nearly as good as others on the market. Here a few we love (and believe us, we love big huge Tammy Fay Baker in the chic-est fucking sense lashes):

-Clinique High Impact Mascara (in the green tube). Natural looking lashes that are thick, not clumpy, and lengthy. Probably the safest choice, for those who are just getting into having the most eyelashes ever.

-Benefit Bad Gal Lash- Great full lashes. Product tends to dry out quickly, but those first few weeks are full of great lashes.

-Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous. A nice drug store option for super black and super thick lashes.

-Make Up Forever Smokey Lash. Girrrrl, get ready for the lashes of your life.

And our favorite:

-DJV Beautenizer Volume Lash and Fiber Wig XL. Okay, this is going to sound crazy—two mascaras at once?! No but really, using these two mascaras together is AMAZING and a beautiful gift from the land of Japan. Start off with a few sexy coats of the Volume Lash and then layer on the Fiber Wig. You’ll DIE at how amazingly thick, fluffy, and long your lashes are. WARNING: Not for the faint of lashes.

Anonymous asked: I have very oily skin so my makeup tends to "sweat" halfway through the day. I use oil blotting papers but is there anything I can do during my morning makeup routine to help with this problem?

Girrrrl, we’ve been there. Sweaty days and oily skin usually mean you can kiss your make up bye-bye. Be thankful though, oily skin means you’ll be wrinkle-free into your later years. However, there are a few tricks to help combat oily skin and keep your make up firmly in place.

-Try finding a mattifying moisturizer. This will absorb all of the excess oil in your skin before you apply your make up. Bliss Spa’s Steep Clean Mattifying Moisturizer is a super great one to try out. It’ll leave your skin  feeling smooth but not overdry. A must for any lady with an oily complexion.

-Keep your face clean but not too clean. Make sure you’re washing your face once or twice a day and exfoliating once or twice a week—but don’t overdo it! Sometimes extra oily skin is the result of over-exfoliated and over-cleansed skin amping up oil production after too much cleansing. Eeep!

We really like Fresh’s Soy Face Cleanser and Lush’s Angels on Bare Skin. Both are gentle but super effective.

-Primer, primer, primer. Primers are a MUST for oily skin. It’ll keep your make up on your skin all day long. We like Illamasqua’s Matt Primer. If you have oily skin avoid words like “radiance” and “glow” in your primer. Shop for your skin type only!

-Stick to foundations made for oily skin. Avoid anything made with oil—always go for a water-based product. We like NARS Sheer Matte and Make Up Forever Mat Velvet+.

If your skin is super, super oily, try out a powder foundation. Mac Studio Fix is known to work miracles but its NOT for everyone. Laura Mercier makes a great powder foundation, too. Again, avoid words like “luminous” and “dewy”.

-Powder in place. When finishing up your look, always give your face a brush with a pressed powder. This will keep your make up on all day.

-Avoid those blotting papers. Blotting papers might seem like a good idea but we find they cause more damage than they prevent. If you MUST use one (we’re talking 90 degree day from hell here, folks), make sure you are JUST blotting. Wiping one across your skin can cause acne. Also, if your blotting paper is covered in oil after one dab, throw it away. and get a fresh one. Don’t put that oil back on your skin, girl. Eugh!

Hope this helps, beautiful!

emilykropp asked: LOVE YOU GUYS your videos are the best and I can't wait to see more. I have 2 quick questions.

#1: How important is primer? I just tried it for the first time the other night and really liked the overall finish it gave me, but I'm always hesitant to put too many products on my skin since I'm prone to breakouts.

#2: Should I invest in makeup brushes for foundation? I usually just use my fingers for any liquid products.

you guys rock ttyl

Hi! Thanks so much for the kind words and great questions!

#1! First of all, don’t be too worried about your skin breaking out because of a primer. Primer’s are a relatively gentle product. Regardless, good, high quality (not necessarily expensive) make up products shouldn’t usually hurt your skin. That being said, you should always look for products that suit your skin type. If you are unsure of your skin type, head down to Macy’s or your local department store, walk up to the counter of your choice (I find Chanel, Lancome, Clinque, and Estee Lauder associates very helpful), and ask. There’s no need to buy anything; information is free!

A primer is important because it keeps your make up in place, gives you a sexy glow, and gives your foundation something solid to adhere to. If you’re going out for a night of dancing or heading off to a friend’s wedding, you wanna look fierce all night—even if you do have one too many tequila shots or start copiously sweating after an impromptu rendition of the Electric Slide. Eyeshadow primers do the same job, only for eyeshadow.

Our favorite primers are from Smashbox, Two Faced, and Urban Decay.

#2! We see nothing wrong with using your hands to apply make up; they’re a great tool and they’re free. We ain’t all got millions of dollars lying around to spend on $30+ brushes. However, using a foundation brush can give you a thicker, smoother, and more even application. This is important if you plan on building up your make up, say if you’re going for a chic pin up look or have some acne you wanna hide. It’s also more hygienic to use a brush; there’s a shit ton of bacteria on those hands of yours and bacteria = break outs. Remember, cleaning the brushes is just as important, too or else they’ll be just as bad as your hands.

For a great deal on brushes, check out Eco Tools. They sell them at Target, Duane Reade, and other drug stores.

Thanks so much for watching ;)
